Blue Tit
Cyanistes caeruleus
Blue tits maintain cleanliness in their nests by removing chick droppings, which are formed into neat, white packets known as faecal sacs. These sacs, produced by the chicks after feeding, have a strong, mucous coating that enables the parent birds to easily grasp them and transport them away from the nest to minimise the risk of attracting predators.
