False Puffball

Enteridium lycoperdon

The False Puffball is a common slime mould typically observed in spring. It creates a large cushion-like fruiting body (aethalium) on decaying wood, measuring up to 10 cm diameter. This structure arises from a creamy white plasmodium. Also known as Reticularia lycoperdon.
