Dog Rose
Rosa canina
Dog Rose is a common shrub featuring arching stems that can reach lengths of up to 3 metres which are equipped with curved thorns. The leaves are hairless and pinnate, featuring 2 to 3 pairs of toothed leaflets. The flowers, which are pale pink or white and measure 45 to 50 mm in diameter, have a flat disc in the centre that contains the styles. The flowers bloom from late May to July. After flowering, the shrub produces fruits known as rose-hips.
