Common Purple & Gold
Pyrausta purpuralis
This species is active both during the day and at night from May to August and is commonly located near its food plant, mint. It is frequently mistaken for the Mint Moth. The pattern of the postmedian markings on the forewing may create a continuous broad band, although it is often broken into three sections. The hindwing typically features one or two yellow spots or short, broad streaks.
