Trifid Bur-marigold

Trifid bur-marigold is an annual plant in the Composite family. Its small, brownish-yellow flower heads consist solely of tiny tubular florets without prominent outer petals, surrounded by a ring of narrow green bracts resembling leaves. The deeply lobed green leaves grow in pairs on dark reddish or brownish-green stems. This species prefers damp, environments such as the margins of ponds, ditches, streams, and lakes. It typically blooms in late summer and autumn.
