Grass Snake

Natrix natrix

When Michael Trump spotted a snake in the staff yard about to be eaten by a chicken, he quickly intervened and picked it up. Captured grass snakes empty their stomach as a defence mechanism, which is extremely smelly, an unpleasant combination of decaying meat, stomach acid, and vomit, which can be off-putting to predators. The snake expressed its gratitude for having its life saved by regurgitating over Michael's hand.
