Hummingbird Hawk-moth
Macroglossum stellatarum
This species is active during the day and hovers in front of flowers, similar to a hummingbird. It utilises a long, straw-like mouth known as a proboscis to consume nectar. The brightly coloured, fragrant flower spikes of Buddleia are a favourite food source.
