Fewmets
Fallow Deer
Fallow deer produce smooth, shiny, dark droppings that are pointed at one end. The droppings measure about 10–15 mm long and 8–10 mm wide,. They change texture and colour due to age, exposure, and seasonal diet changes. Deer regurgitate and chew their food twice before digesting it so food items in the droppings are usually not discernible. "Fewmets" is a medieval hunting term for game animal excrement, particularly that of an adult male deer. Historically, hunters studied fewmets to track a quarry, judge its size, and determine how recently it travelled through the area.
