Bird's Nest Fungus

Cyathus stercoreus

Fresh fruiting bodies of Bird's Nest fungus, a species that commonly grows on wood mulch, enriched soil, or decaying organic matter. It is generally considered a sign of healthy, nutrient-rich soil rather than a threat to living plants. As the fungus develops it somewhat resembles a tiny nest containing eggs.
