Small Tortoiseshell

Aglais urticae

Apart from declining in numbers due to its foodplant nettle disappearing, the Small Tortoiseshell faces another threat from the fly Sturmia bella, which has increased in numbers due to climate change. The fly's larvae feed on Small Tortoiseshell caterpillars.
