RAF Chigwell cont.

Despite severe rationing and the demands of conflict, personnel on the base made a significant effort to celebrate Christmas. Here are the details from the Xmas menu:

"R.A.F. Chigwell - The Commanding Officer, Officers, Warrant Officers and Senior N.C.O.'s take this opportunity of thanking all Airmen and Airwomen, for their loyal support and hard work during the past year, and wish them a very Happy Xmas and a Bright and Prosperous New Year."

"Xmas Menu - Some hae meat and canna eat, And some have meat and want it : But we hae meat and we can eat, And so the Lord be thankit.-Burns"
