14. FAIRLOP FAIR
From 'The wonders of trees, plants, and shrubs'. Published 1823.
In 1823, magistrates held a special session at the Angel Inn in Great Ilford and determined that Fairlop Fair would be limited to a single day due to previous issues that occurred. The fair was not established by charter.
Fines were imposed on Joseph Dixon, John Smith, William Thorowgood, and John Ebbs for selling alcoholic beverages at Fairlop Fair after their licenses from the Board of Excise had expired.
