During 1795, the watermen lent the Fairlop boat to Lieutenant Dunadue for the purpose of recruiting volunteer seamen. This action displeased the block-makers, prompting them to build a new boat for their exclusive use at Mr. Martin's in Great Hermitage Street, Wapping. The new vessel measured 5.5 metres in length and 1.5 metres in width, featuring three masts and the capacity to accommodate a crew of thirty. It was adorned with two gilt anchors and other decorations, including a figurehead that resembled Daniel Day. According to "The History, Origin and Rise of Fairlop Fair," the new boat, named "The Daniel Day," was decorated with the words "Block-makers maggot" on its sides. The masthead shown above had a height of Height 35.9 cm.
