A variable annual found on disturbed ground. The leaves range from being diamond-shaped near the base to very narrow. Initially the plants tend to grow upright, reaching heights of 10–150cm, but usually becomes recumbent due to the weight of the foliage and seeds unless supported by other plants. There are a number of subspecies and varieties and it is difficult to differentiate between them. Sometimes known as 'White Goosefoot'.
