Greater Plantain

Plantago major

Greater Plantain features broad, oval leaves on extended stalks. The flower spikes are narrow and at least as long as the stalk. These can be observed from June to October. The anthers start off purple and change to yellow. This plant tends to thrive on bare ground and is particularly prevalent near pathways.
