Goatsbeard

Tragopogon pratensis

This annual is found in rough grassland from May to July. The bright yellow flowerheads are normally closed by 1pm earning this plant the nickname of 'Jack-Go-To-Bed-At-Noon'. Large off-white clocks appear after the flowers which disperse the seeds on the wind.
