Ransoms
Allium ursinum
Ransoms, commonly referred to as 'Wild Garlic,' typically appears in April and May. This plant prefers shaded, damp locations. For most of the year, it exists as a bulb underground, surfacing in the spring to bloom. It produces rounded clusters of white flowers on long, slender stalks. The star-shaped flowers consist of six long, narrow petals that taper to a point, accompanied by six stamens that bear white anthers and pollen. At the centre, there is a green, three-lobed ovary. Narrow oval leaves grow around the base of the stem.
