Leaf Gall

Cecidophyes nudus

Leaf galls that appear as bulges on the upper side of Herb Bennet leaves are caused by white mites that are present year-round. These mites reside on the undersides of the leaves, leading to the formation of abnormal hair growth known as erineum, and they enter a dormant phase during winter. Thank you to Enid Barrie for her assistance with the identification.
