Oak Apple
Biorhiza pallida
Oak apples on English oak trees result from the larvae of a gall wasp. The eggs laid in oak buds lead to the formation of spongy, apple-like growths. Each 'apple' contains multiple chambers, each housing a larva. These growths are not suitable for consumption.
