Tom Mix, the cowboy hero of Wild West films with his horse "Tony". He was an American film actor active from 1909 to 1935. The majority of his films were silent, and estimates of the total number of films he starred in varies between 291 and 400. Mix is recognised as one of Hollywood's first Western stars and played a significant role in shaping the genre during the early days of cinema. In 1938, he travelled to Britain for a promotional tour and appeared at the Ilford Hippodrome, along with several venues in the West End of London.
