Oak Processionary
Thaumetopoea processionea
The males can sometimes be attracted to light when they fly from July to September. Females, also fly, but they are much weaker and because of this, their flight range is limited. The larvae show a preference for feeding on mature oaks. The common name refers the caterpillars which often form large head-to-tail processions.
