Sialis lutaria
A common sight on sunny days from April to June. Alderflies have heavily veined robust-looking bodies and are broad headed. Adults typically live for 2-3 days and lay egg masses on waterside vegetation. They visit a range of plants - not only Alder as their name might suggest.
