Redwing

Turdus iliacus

During winter Redwings choose Britain as their home where they can feast on fruits, berries, and earthworms. They gather in flocks and will return to Scandinavia and Russia for the summer. There is a creamy stripe above each eye and striking orange-red patches on the flanks which help when identifying this species. The Redwing holds the title of being the UK's tiniest true thrush.
