Sparrowhawk

Accipiter nisus

Bird tables can occasionally draw Sparrowhawks in search of food. Female Sparrowhawks may hunt birds as large as woodpigeons. Both male and female Sparrowhawks consume the equivalent of 2-3 sparrows daily. Adult males have bluish-grey backs and are typically smaller, usually not capturing anything larger than a blackbird.
