Kestrel

Falco tinnunculus

Kestrels are generally found in open environments such as grasslands, agricultural regions, and heathlands, which offer a clear view to spot their prey. They have excellent eyesight that enables them to see effectively in dim light, allowing hunting to continue until evening. In summer, they are frequently seen hovering over fields while searching for food. In winter, they usually hunt from fixed positions, such as tree branches, to save energy.
