Mistle Thrush
Turdus viscivorus
The Mistle Thrush is distinguishable from the Song Thrush by its rounded, heavy spots on the underparts, as opposed to the arrow-shaped spots of the latter. It typically has a more upright posture and is larger and greyer compared to other thrush species. The Mistle Thrush feeds on worms, insects, and berries, and displays aggressive behaviour while defending trees that are abundant with berries. This is Britain's largest songbird. It is commonly referred to as the "stormcock" due to its habit of singing loudly from high positions during or after rainy and windy conditions.
