White Death Spider
Misumena vatia
Crab spiders are often found on bushes and flower heads. They usually remain still with front legs extended to catch passing insects for food. Females can reach lengths of up to 12 mm, while males are significantly smaller. Females can gradually change colour from white to yellow, allowing them to blend in with their surroundings. A cocoon containing their eggs is secured in a folded leaf using silk.
