Variegated Golden Tortrix

Archips xylosteana

The Variegated Golden Tortrix is a type of tortrix moth belonging to the family Tortricidae. The name "tortrix" is derived from the Latin verb torquere, which means "to twist." This name reflects the distinctive behaviour of their caterpillars, which twist, fold, or roll leaves around themselves using silk to form protective tube-like shelters while feeding. Consequently, they are also commonly referred to as "leafroller moths."  This species feeds on a range of deciduous trees.
