Fallow Deer
Dama dama
The stare of deer serves a purpose related to their survival instincts. They rely on their acute senses to detect potential threats. When faced with something unfamiliar, like a human, they will pause to evaluate the situation. If they perceive danger, they usually flee. They are also sensitive to sound, and the cracking of a twig when stepped upon is often enough to make them scarper.
