Ring-necked Parakeet

Psittacula krameri

Ring-necked parakeets are native to Africa and southern Asia. There are various theories regarding their introduction to Britain, but they have since escaped into the wild here and have become established. They typically nest in tree cavities and are commonly seen in large, noisy flocks. Their diet consists of nuts, seeds, berries, and fruits. The past decade has witnessed a significant increase in numbers at Hainault Forest.
