Romford Road
In 1910, Romford Road was a quiet narrow lane, unlike the busy dual carriageway it has become in the 21st century. The ladies in the photograph lived in Chigwell Row village. The road had a sharp curve as it climbed towards Hog Hill, but was straightened when replaced by the dual carriageway. The Old Hainault Oak Public House is visible at the corner of New North Road.
