The Whitethroat is a summer migrant from the African continent. Both sexes are primarily brown above and buff underneath, with chestnut fringes to the secondary feathers. The adult male has a grey head and a white throat. The female lacks the grey head, and the throat is duller. They feed on insects, berries and fruits.
