The No. 25 Bus was originally an open-topped vehicle that travelled from Seven Kings to Victoria Station via Ilford, Stratford, Aldgate and Holborn. The driver sat at the front while a conductor operating a ticket machine collected fares from customers on the lower and upper decks. This picture dates from about 1910.
